With promotion and selection opportunities being rarer, wise candidates look for experienced and expert support in developing and preparing them for the next rank or moving into a specialist role in the police. We have significant experience and success of coaching people for promotion procedures to to all ranks from sergeant through to chief superintendent. Our unique blend of services provide a range of options to support and mentor as well as providing effective strategies for success.

South Downs Leadership provide an expert one to one coaching and mentoring service as well as seminars for those with an ambition to progress within the police service.

We provide and review service for written applications which ensure that the evidence submitted to the panel is presented in the most impactive way, taking into account the selection criteria, the candidates skills and experience and their unique selling points.

Our 1:1 coaching sessions explore in depth the candidate’s motivations and readiness for promotion or progression as well as providing reflective opportunities to build on strengths, address areas for development and identify and pitch unique selling points. They include practice written questions, mock presentations and interviews all of which are videoed along with the feedback sessions. These include an application review service when the procedure you are applying for is launched.

Our seminars cover much of the 1:1 sessions but are ideal for groups of up to 12 candidates who prefer to learn and develop in a collective environment. They can be held locally to you and all include the opportunity to opt in to an application review service when the procedure you are applying for is launched.
